About the event
Featured Presentation: Dr. Keith Kisselle on Fungal Ecology
We are incredibly honored to welcome Dr. Keith Kisselle, a distinguished Associate Professor of Biology and Environmental Science at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Dr. Kisselle will lead a fascinating two-hour workshop titled "Fungal Ecology: Unraveling Nature's Hidden Networks."
Join us on Saturday, December 13th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM as Dr. Kisselle delves into the critical, complex, and often unseen roles that fungi play within our global ecosystems. This comprehensive class will explore:
Diverse Fungal Relationships: An exploration of the intricate symbioses and associations fungi form with plants (like mycorrhizae), animals, and other microorganisms. Discover how these partnerships drive biodiversity and ecological resilience.
Essential Ecosystem Contributions: Highlighting fungi's indispensable work in nutrient cycling and decomposition. Learn how they act as nature's premier recyclers, breaking down organic matter and returning vital nutrients to the soil, thus underpinning all life on Earth.
Profound Environmental Impact: Gain a deeper, scientific understanding of the complex web of life beneath our feet and the monumental, yet often overlooked, impact fungi have on soil health, carbon sequestration, and overall environmental stability.
Whether you're an avid forager, a dedicated mycophile, or simply curious about the life in your soil, you will walk away with a richer, more detailed understanding of this vast biological kingdom.
